The Ultimate Packing List For The 2025 BMW Safari GS Enduro
Author: Team Adventure Moto Date Posted:5 June 2025

The 2025 BMW Safari GS Enduro is back for another big ride! This time, they’re kicking things off in Emerald, QLD and heading north to Airlie Beach, and this is no place for half-baked prep. That’s why we’ve rounded up all the Steve-approved essentials you’ll need to ride fearlessly and be ready for whatever the trail throws your way. From head-to-toe gear to camping comfort, we’re your one-stop shop for adventure.
Your Essential BMW Safari Enduro Riding Gear
When you’re tackling the wild outback of Queensland, your gear needs to be comfortable, protective and ready to ride. Here’s what we’d be packing if we were on the trip:
Off-Road Boots
For serious protection and comfort, choose purpose-built adventure boots with shin and ankle support. Bestselling brands like Alpinestar, Forma, and Klim have you sorted with adjustable buckles for a secure fit and the support needed to prevent injuries, essential for this demanding off-road ride.

Jackets & Pants
You’ll need weatherproof, abrasion-resistant outerwear, preferably fitted with CE-approved armour for that extra level of protection. Multiple ventilation options also help, as we all know QLD doesn’t really experience winter like the Southern Aussies.
Our top picks are:
Klim Dakar Jacket - Engineered for tough, multi-season off-road adventures, this jacket features abrasion-resistant CORDURA® overlays in high-wear areas, ample pockets and a moisture-wicking liner.
Klim Baja S4 Jacket - Perfect for warm-weather desert riding, the Baja S4 uses robust mesh and four-way stretch panels for unmatched airflow and mobility. CE-certified SuperFabric® on the shoulders and elbows provides added protection.
Klim Avalon Women’s Jacket - Designed by women for women, the Avalon offers exceptional airflow and comfort, with a strong Karbonite™mesh chassis and stretch panels for flexibility. It comes with D3O® CE Level 1 vented armour, making it the go-to for female adventure riders.
Now For Your Bottom Half
Klim Switchback Cargo Pants - These multipurpose heroes are lightweight yet incredibly durable, with removable D3O® Ghost armour for knees and hips.
Klim Induction Pants - Maximum airflow meets rugged protection thanks to the Karbonite™mesh chassis and 500D CORDURA® reinforcements and D3O® CE-level 1 vented armour at the knees and hips. These pants are perfect for long days in the saddle.
Klim Women’s Outrider Pants - Built for women who ride, this pair offers the same rugged canvas construction and removable D3O® armour as the men's, but with a fit tailored to you. Comfortable, protective and stylish, they’re perfect for any multi-day ride.
Gloves
We recommend always travelling with two sets of gloves, one pair for cold or wet conditions and another set of lighter gloves for warmer days - these should still be durable, just not as insulated or bulky.
Our waterproof options keep your hands dry and warm and feature a built-in squeegee to clear your visor. We love the Klim Enduro GTX and Vanguard GTX styles.
Your lightweight gloves should offer superior breathability but still plenty of abrasion resistance, like the Five Gloves E2 Enduro and Alpinestars C1 Windstoppers.
Helmets
You’ll be meeting adventure head-on in this ride, so it’s important to have a helmet that fits right and offers maximum protection, especially if you’re tackling that mammoth sand dune.
The Klim Krios Pro is a top-tier adventure helmet engineered for riders who demand the absolute best in protection, comfort and versatility. Its innovative Koroyd® impact liner absorbs energy more efficiently than traditional EPS, offering state-of-the-art impact protection and reducing head trauma in the event of a crash. You’ll also love the Transitions® photochromic visor that automatically adjusts to light, anti-fog face shield and easy magnetic strap closure.
If you’re searching for versatility and value, the Airoh Commander 2 can’t be beat. The innovative ASN and AEFR systems offer plenty of protection, and the A3S Antifog and Lock Systems make for an easy ride.
Goggles
Options like the Klim Edge Off-Road or Oakley Airbrake provide clear vision in dusty or foggy conditions, with anti-fog lenses and a comfortable fit for all-day wear.
Must-Haves For The Enduro Ride
Don’t leave home without these! This isn’t your average Sunday cruise - remote, rugged and unpredictable. Here’s what you need to stay safe and on track, recommended by BMW Safari themselves!
Satellite Communication
Due to the extreme remoteness of the ride, all riders must have a Satellite communication device with tracking. You’ll never have to worry about the ‘No Mobile Signal’ with the ZOLEO Satellite Communicator or Garmin inReach® Mini 2, which keep you connected anywhere on earth. Track your ride, send an SOS or just let your mates know you’re safe.
GPS Navigation
GPS nav capability is optional, but highly recommended to help you stay on course in unfamiliar territory. The team at the event will also share a GPS file of the route to keep you on track.
Garmin Zūmo® XT2 GPS - The most advanced motorcycle Sat-Nav on the market, pre-loaded with Australian maps. It can be paired with a compatible inReach® satellite communicator.
Garmin Tread Overland Edition - This nifty piece of kit is an all-terrain sat-nav and satellite communicator all in one. It’s purpose-built to withstand the elements of every terrain and can be tracked by mates with the Group Ride App.
Headlight Protection
Protect your headlight from rocks and debris with a Rok Stopper Guard - quick to fit, built to last, and trusted by Aussie riders for over 20 years.
Tool Kit
Be ready for anything with the Motohansa Enduro Pro toolset. This compact, professional-quality kit comes with all the tools you need to undertake emergency trailside repairs.
Packing Up & Sleeping Well On The Enduro
Luggage
There’s a strict luggage allowance for this ride with only 2 50L soft luggage bags allowed, along with a small tank bag and soft pack on your bike to carry personal gear and emergency kit. The ADVWORX Gen-2 50L Duffel is ideal. 100% waterproof, built for tough conditions and an air-purge valve so you can pack a lot in without them getting too bulky and thrown off the luggage truck!
Camping Gear
You’ll be spending a few nights under the stars, so you’ll need some lightweight kit to keep it comfy.
Tents: Stay safe and comfortable in the great outdoors with our sturdy, durable, yet travel-friendly tents.
Sleeping Mat: Even the most seasoned adventurer needs a soft place to rest their head and the Pélion Zos Ultralight Air Sleeping Mat is perfect. It weighs under 500g, has a unique diamond structure to stop you rolling and inflates fast so you can get to bed quickly after a long day in the saddle.
Sleeping Bag: Just because we’re in the north doesn’t mean it stays warm. You’ll need a comfy, lightweight, and compact sleeping bag that rolls down easily, and we’ve got just the picks from Sea to Summit.
Camping Chair: After a long day in the saddle, your backside deserves a break. That’s why the Pélion camping chairs are always the first thing out of our saddlebags. Lightweight but sturdy, these chairs are big enough to kick back in and strong enough to hold up to 120kg.
